The newly developed Free Form Unroll Bending (FFUB) is presented as a possible solution. Forming simulations are used to show that the process is, in principle, suitable for the bending of profile components. It is also shown that the process can be used to re-bend previously bent components, which is an important prerequisite for the cascading use of bent components. A process variant is presented in which the tool kinematics can be implemented using industrial robots. Due to the widespread use of industrial robots, this process variant offers a flexible and cost-effective entry into bending technology. |
